As I stated in a previous post, infographics are being used more and more for their easy-to-follow, visual representation of seemingly complex topics. 

The infographic below describes the very complex process (simplified in this graph, of course) that Google follows when deciding what to display in the Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs) after a user performs a specific search.

As you can see, there are many considerations that go into this process including Google bots crawling the web, those bots indexing the websites it crawls, cross-checking pages against Google editorial policies...then, once a user queries Google, it creates an initial result set that is organized by page authority and PageRank.

I hope this infographic describes the "behind-the-scenes" process of a Google search a bit more clearly for those who don't quite understand all that goes into your simple 3 second search for "dentist marketing columbus ohio".
