You might have heard by now that we are giving away a website worth $20,000 to a small business in Central Ohio.

We know - that sounds a bit crazy. After all, that’s a lot of sweat, hours, and creative assets that we’re putting on the line. But we think it’s exactly what we should do. And here are three reasons why:

1: We really love growing small business.

That’s more than a sentiment to us – over seven years, we’ve built our business by growing other businesses. We see first-hand the way that our work affects lives – both for our clients (who we love!) and for each other.

2: Small businesses are huge contributors to our lives.

Through working with small businesses in nearly every industry, we’ve seen the way that dentists, electricians, t-shirt companies and ice cream shops make our communities better places by:

  • Providing services and products that make our lives better
  • Creating jobs for our neighbors, friends, and family members
  • Empowering people by developing skills and talents

Yet, we also know that running a small business isn’t easy. It’s an incredible responsibility – filled with a million daunting challenges day in and day out.

3: We understand what it’s like to be a small business.

The 15-hour-days-pace, the make-it-or-tank challenges, and the pull-your-hair-out moments – and the buy-everyone-a-round celebrations - we know full well the ups and downs that come with growing a business. And we believe that every ounce of sacrifice, sweat, and struggle is worth it. But we also know that small businesses are often up against the wall. They have smaller budgets, limited resources, and even more limited time. In a digital world, they often feel outmatched by competitors with larger budgets and slicker websites.

That’s why we are giving back to small businesses the best way we know how.

As we continue to grow, we find that we have the opportunity to give back to the small business community we love. When entering, a business must validate that they have been in business for a minimum of three years, and have at least five employees on the payroll. Our winner will be announced on Small Business Saturday (Saturday, November 29th.).
